Why am I back??
A long summer draws to a close... as does a long journey of fieldwork, textual analysis and endless, endless coding.
And so I'm back here in time for the thesis-writing process to develop in earnest. March three is when the madness will begin and the results chapters will begin to take shape.
Now that's a scary thought.
In the meantime I have a birthday to look forward to... and a new
Mountain Goats album to enjoy.
Heretic Pride is classic John Darnielle, but the production and instrumentation is rich and, at times, flawless. There's drums. And Peter Hughes does things with that bass that just make me happy.

Autoclave - and who doesn't love a chorus that reminds listeners that, in truth, we're all just this "great, unstable mass of blood and foam".
I'm loving it. Join me. And we'll keep each other company in this year between candidature and submission.
